The Competition Cheer teams from Wayne’s two public high schools came together at Wayne Valley on Dec. 20th to run a holiday toy drive benefitting children at Hackensack Hospital.

In the past, the teams have held Secret Santas and exchanged gifts with one another. This holiday season, the coaches from both schools announced they would be holding a toy drive for children in need instead.

Hills Senior and Comp. Cheer flyer Morgan Kratzer says, “Being able to bring and donate toys to the children’s hospital was very special. You can really see the gratitude that the nurses and staff have for all our toys. I hope it brings a lot of joy to those in need. My team and I are very glad to have been apart of this great opportunity to give back!”

The Senior girls are happy to have spent their last year as cheerleaders serving their community.

Junior and back spot Alexa Radziszewski said she “loved being a part of the toy drive. When the coaches told us we were doing a toy drive instead of our annual secret Santa it made me happy. I knew when I was buying a toy for a child in need it would really make their day. Everyone should be able to enjoy receiving a gift this holiday season.”

The toy drive was a success and collected over 200 toys.
