Google Reveals the 2017 Year in Search

By Samantha Segreto, Assistant Senior Editor

Once again, Google has managed to compile a stunning collection of 2017’s most notable moments through nothing other than the world’s very own search history. On December 12, they released the video that moved the nation, featuring two minutes filled with questions, statements, and simple one-word searches that effectively represented all that went through our minds in the last 12 excitingly eventful months.

The video begins by stating that this year more than ever we asked the simple question how, whether it be how hurricanes are formed or how many refugees there are in the world, with human beings always overwhelmed by curiosity while the world is constantly altering. Searches stretched from desperate pleadings of how to help to light-hearted questions about matters as elementary as fidget spinners. One constant theme throughout each, however, is the desire to simply know what had been going on in the world at any given time, acquiring knowledge about both the good and the bad. When asked about her thoughts regarding 2017 as a whole, Abriana Paris, senior admitted, “We definitely made a lot of improvements socially, but politically, we still need some work.”
