The New York Mets are the most exciting team baseball. With the team continuing their hot-streak during the playoffs, the Mets plan on dominating the World Series. But it wasn’t without the help of veteran infielder Daniel Murphy. Murphy, also known as “Murph,” is New York’s postseason hero. Murphy set an MLB record for being the only player in MLB history to hit six consecutive homeruns in the postseason. Murphy has homered off of some of the best pitchers in the MLB. New York’s star has homered off of Jon Lester, Clayton Kershaw and the two Cy Young candidates, Zack Greinke and Jake Arrieta.

There is no other way to put it than to say that Daniel Murphy is an absolute threat on the field. With his bat in the lineup, the Mets feel very confident that he will the make plays and continue to come up clutch. “Murph is a huge part of the Mets. He needs to remain in the hot seat as we head to the World Series,” said Mets fan Jason Cote. Throughout the postseason, ‘Murph’ has a .357 batting average, an incredible .929 slugging percentage and eight very important runs batted in. The second basemen has an eye-opening five home runs and also came around to score seven times.

Though it isn’t just the home runs that bring Daniel Murphy into the spotlight. The ‘Murphy Mania’ continues as the Mets do not plan on renewing his contract. “It’s a shame if they don’t re-sign him. He’s a big part of the team,” said baseball critic Ryan Passaro. For the past seven seasons, the New York club had acquired the infielder for well under $10 million. The team doesn’t expect any contract doubling offers that can possibly bring him back to New York next year.  Even after his playoff heroics, the Mets don’t see Murphy in the future plans.
