Basketball Team Boasts Impressive 8-3 Record

The Patriots’ basketball team heads into the middle of the season with a standout record of 8-3 in their division. The team came into the season with a bang, beating West Milford 90-45 in one of their best games they have played yet. After the season’s opening game victory, they continued with their success beating Passaic Valley 55-40,Wayne Valley 72-56,Depaul 83-74,Rampo 64-47,Lakeland 74-44, and Fair Lawn 86-79.  

Unfortunately, the basketball team’s last game against St.Joseph did not go in the team’s favor, ending with a final score of 45-7. 

Junior Joey Belli won the MVP award at the team’s Christmas tournament, as he made a total of 123 points so far this season, making 10 three point shots and 33 free throws in the past seven games the team has had so far.

“I felt I was really well prepared for the 2016-2017 season with all the training I have had throughout the year, I just love the game and i’m excited for another good season,” said Belli, a point guard.

The team expressed how much they were looking forward to their upcoming game on Thursday, January  12 against Clifton. They are ready to make it all the way and work together to have yet another successful season as well as making it to the county championship.

“I hope to make it all the way this season,” says Junior Jason Modak, a power forward.  “I think the team really deserves it with how hard we worked this season,”
